Teachers must not only be competent in their subject matter, but also demonstrate relationship skills and conflict resolution skills when dealing with students, parents, guardians, and colleagues. In addition, changes in the school system and requirements from the school authorities must be implemented and managed accordingly. Promoting the health of teachers is therefore of paramount importance. Only healthy teachers can face the challenges of everyday teaching and meet the demands of the classroom.
The goal of school health promotion is to design the school as a place of learning and work in such a way that the health of all participants is promoted and the school's educational mission is supported. Successful health promotion for teachers therefore consists of a mix of person- and organization-related measures. The goal is to support individual teachers, reduce individual risk factors, and strengthen personal resources. At the same time, the school workplace must be organized in such a way that stress is reduced or avoided.
