Artificial intelligence (AI) is in the process of fundamentally transforming our working and living environments and will soon be an integral part of our everyday lives. However, despite its potential, AI carries risks. Distortions, prejudices and stereotypes that arise from the data used to train the AI pose a particular challenge.
These systemic distortions, known as biases, can subsequently lead to social problems such as the reinforcement of discrimination, social inequalities, prejudices, sexism and racism. This teaching unit aims to sensitize students to bias using the example of image-generating AI, to reflect on their own AI usage behavior and to promote critical use.
