One of the known consequences of the current transformations of work, is a destabilization of the existing labor market institutioner- and organizations og, including a lower level of unionisation. The purpose of a joint Nordic research is to contribute to the basis for the Nordic countries to plan and implement policy initiatives and efforts aimed at young people, so as to contribute to a more sustainable life. This effort may prove important in relation to meet the profound social changes that we currently see among young people, in order to prevent and supervise the safety and health problems among young people in 'atypical' work situations. Background It is a well known phenomenon that the global labor market changes and new ways of working become visible among young workers, and then work their way up through all age groups. The financial crisis in 2008 gave impetus to the spread of new forms of employment, and for some young meant crisis also marginalization and exclusion from the labor market. In this context, the concepts of 'GIG economy', 'Micro economy', 'Sharing Economy', 'precarious work', 'Affective labor' and 'Atypical work' become important because they can help to explain the changes that we currently experiencing. The rise of new forms of employment among young can also be explained in the digital revolution and the emergence of new markets and different forms of production. With the digital revolution will be continuously created new ways of working through web-based platforms that especially young people take to heart. While pointing out numerous studies that young workers have specific health and safety problems. But the growing group of young people working in new ways in 'atypical' jobs, including in the digital labor is illuminated in a Nordic context, and there are still no studies that examine the safety problems the current transformation of the labor market brings with it for this group of young people. Goals The goal of the project is to improve Nordic young people's work environment by conducting a study of the impact of modern working life can have on young people working in the North. Concrete objectives of the project: • Build a joint Nordic research group on young people in atypical employment • Establish knowledge of the relationship between young people's atypical forms and their safety problems with the use of data from the Labor Force Survey (Statistics Denmark) • Publish a handbook aimed at decision-makers and authorities in the Nordic countries • Conduct a workshop on the application-oriented perspective in the handbook with participation from the Nordic countries (including regulators). This knowledge is needed to refine our knowledge of the consequences of a radically changed work may have for occupational health and risks among young workers, so health and safety experts and regulators will be better able to cope with future safety problems.
