Thus far the initiative has developed several tools including a list of 39 Foundational Fire Safety Competencies (fire prevention and fire protection competencies) and based on these competencies a self-assessment checklist. A five day training course to educate individuals as change agents known as fire safety facilitators is developed and is currently going through the accreditation process at the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. This course has a strong prevention orientation and will be initially delivered as a regional train-the-trainer in July and August in South Asia. The participants will subsequently be in a position of running national train-the-train courses and subsequently Workplace Fire Safety Facilitator Fire Safety Facilitator Courses in factories.
