This is the second report of the “DETECT – Developing Teachers’ Critical Digital Literacies” project. The report aims to develop an understanding of teachers’ needs in relation to critical digital literacies within a school context. It presents the empirical activities carried out as part of Intellectual Output 1 of the project and the relevant findings that emerged. In particular, it presents the findings from the survey and interviews that were carried out between January-June 2020.
This second project report summarises the initial empirical findings from a mixed methods study that was conducted during the first year of the project and aimed to develop an understanding of schools’ readiness in relation to digital technology use and teachers’ perceptions, experiences and needs in relation to critical digital literacies. This report outlines the research questions and research methods,
and then goes on to present the key findings emerging from the collected data. It ends with discussing relevant policy implications and making recommendations for consideration by researchers, policy makers and educators.
