Further development of the ENETOSH Standard of Competence
Objectives & method
The ENETOSH Standard of Competence for Instructors and Trainers in Safety and Health was developed on the basis of the long experience of the experts in the ENETOSH network (experience-led and intuitive method). The development process drew both on the findings of a previous study on general trainer competences and on the brand new categories and descriptors set out in the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

In collaboration with Dresden Technical University, the ENETOSH standard is being evolved as part of an empirical requirement analysis (analytical and empirical method). The Task Analysis Tool (TAToo©) is being used to collect the data by means of Europe-wide surveys among experts who have experience in education or training in the fields of competence specified in the ENETOSH standard. The surveys focus on specific work situations and the work behaviour of instructors and trainers in safety and health. The requirements will be derived from this data inductively in a process comprising several phases..

Results
The studies designed to evolve the ENETOSH standard for the fields of competence of “workplace health management” and “OSH management” have finished. Work on the study aimed at evolving the field of competence of “occupational safety and health” began in August 2009.
