In 2005, the first German educational Institution to merge an advanced technical college with a university was in Lüneburg. The resulting new model University Lüneburg distinguishes itself by a modern study program, one which offers the internationally accepted Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Lüneburg University unifies the characteristics of the formally separated university systems: on the one hand, a strong commitment to practical application, and on the other hand, a strong relation with research. Lüneburg University has become an important institution related to research development as well as qualification certification in Northern Germany.
