| Bild: BG BAU | The Berufsgenossenschaft der Bauwirtschaft (BG BAU) is the German institution for statutory accident insurance and prevention for the construction industry. It provides insurance cover and prevention services for all individuals employed in the construction sector, covering occupational and commuting accidents as well as occupational health hazards.

The prevention services of the German Berufsgenossenschaften provide information and advice for companies and insured persons about regulations and practical solutions for problems at hand. Another focus in the prevention work of the BGs is comprehensive training in the areas of occupational health and safety and the protection against work-related health hazards. For this purpose, the Berufsgenossenschaft der Bauwirtschaft runs several training centres, for instance the Arbeitsschutzzentrum Haan (Centre for Occupational Health and Safety at Haan).

The courses do not only consist of lectures and discussions, but focus on demonstrations, experiments and practical team work, which are offered in the form of practical exercises.
