Aims
The participants of the course get a safety training passport with identifies them as having undertaken basic health and safety awareness.
This passport allows the holder access to “passport controlled” workplaces.

Short description
The Safety Pass Alliance was established in response to the needs identified within industry and has undertaken to develop and extend the safety passport culture across all interested sectors.
SPA is committed to providing a nationally recognised standard of health and safety training and assurance, which is cost-effective, easily accessible, tests delegates' knowledge and caters for each industry sector.
The ethos of SPA is to make a positive enhancement of health and safety standards at all levels among workers in the participating sectors.

Evaluation
The SPA Safety Training Passport Scheme is currently in its first years and plans for the period of validity of the passport have not yet been finalised. It is currently envisaged that they will be valid for a period of three years after which a one-day refresher course will be required to revalidate it.
