Källby Gård – Safe school
Every close call and accident, which occurs at Källby Gård, is registered. This is done by the children on a special form. The report is followed up by the school nurse through a conversation with the children. The close call or accident is recorded on a map over the school with different markings.
These give a clear picture of where the close calls and accidents occurred. A special working environment committee is responsible for taking suitable measures. Accident statistics, which are kept, show patterns of accidents and types of damage. These statistics are used in the work with accident prevention.
Parents are also involved in this work. The local parent committee introduced a local rule for the use of cycle helmets in August1997. A special sub-committee with both adults and children works against mobbing and violence.
There is a special plan of action that describes preventative measures but also instructions for which methods that should be used if mobbing or violence occurs. The schools staff cooperates with the students to create an environment for friendship and companionship.
There are different programmes for work with social interplay. The registration of close calls and accidents, which began in February 1996, has resulted in a reduction of incidents at places which had many notes because defects could be quickly fixed.
This school project was presented by Eva Cardell at the 7th Training & Innovation, which took place at Dresden, July 2007 - please click here to view the full presentation (PDF file).
